My Name: Vilhemina "Vilsy" V.

Occupation: Website maintenance/designer; Freetime Furry/Anime artist |
The long and short of it:
I've been an artist ever since I could hold a crayon, which is what most artists say, but heck, it's true for most of us! My first love was drawing animals which I did profusely as an elementary school kiddie-- my personal favorites being the staple dogs and cats. (No horses for me... I was never that sort of girl.) My biggest influences were the Looney Tunes which I contend to be some of the best animated cartoons that ever did or will exist. As I got a little older I started drawing fan art of all my favorite cartoons and game characters-- Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Sonic the Hedgehog, Earthworm Jim-- the list goes on. Then around 1999 I fell prey to the wily Pokemon virus which sucked me into a swirling vortex of Anime fandom. While drawing human-type people was never my forte, I tried vigorously to adapt to the Anime-style, which still lingers in my drawing method as you can see. However, recently the Otaku frenzy in me has faded and I've moved back to my first love-- anthropomorphic animals. |

The art
As I mentioned, I've been drawing since I was a little 'un. Primarily self-taught, I've completed some years of animation/drawing studies at The Art Institute in both Philadelphia and San Francisco which improved my craft. Tools of the trade include pencil, paper, Wacom tablet, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. My style is cartoony. Realism was never, ever my strong point nor my focus. My love is character design. |

The Website
Website design has always been fascinating to me. Way back in the day I tried rigorously to self-teach myself the process with nothing but determination, a rudimentary free web editor/hosting site, and a HTML 4.0 book. My understanding of web design has, needless to say, greatly improved since then, and though I am no pro, I strive each day to continue learning. Vilsy's Artworx & Vilsy's Artshop were both created to archive and showcase my work as well as provide my simple art services to anyone interested in them. :) |

Very Special Thanks
I have to give huge thanks to my family, especially my mama who has tolerated my rampant artistic obsession from that aforementioned day that I could hold a crayon. It hasn't always been smooth sailing, but despite that, she has ALWAYS supported me. Thanks mom, I love ya! :) |
